Down with Dilution – League of Honest Coffee Lovers

I love coffee. So when I stumbled onto this Life Magazine ad from April 1960, I couldn’t help but to pause for observation. “Down with Dilution” Hell yeah, I’m all about that. I assumed the quality of coffee in 60′ sucked. Then after a closer look, this ad seemed like the perfect mantra for the birth of Starbucks. Maybe the founder actually read this. My guess is people didn’t care much about proper measurement, consistent timing and NEVER letting the coffee boil. They were too worried youth of America becoming hippies.

Thanks Pan-American Coffee Bureau.

BrainRenue Capsule Packaging

Here’s the latest BrainRenue product for Brainceuticals. Better brain health now comes in a capsule form. I feel the typography and symbol translated well to this product. Bottle label was printed by McDowell, which is a great print vendor to work with. They are simply one of the best label companies I’ve ever worked with.

New Identity for Amy Conway

This is a new mark and logotype I’ve designed for jewelry designer Amy Conway. The combination the infinity symbol, heart and butterfly seemed to effortlessly work together, and won over myself and the client. Will be launching packaging, and ecomm site for Amy soon.

Amy Conway Photoshoot: Snickers the Dwarf Rabbit

I just recently art directed photography for a new line a jewelry for Amy Conway, with photographer Greg Neumaier. I’m not big on jewelry personally, but Amy’s work definitely appeals to me. I believe she has potential to be the next John Hardy or David Yurman. This is from one of her new collections called Magic Happens, and this piece is called the Daisy Ring. Conceptually, the idea of using a bunny to represent a magic, and that rabbits like to eat daisies and other flowers piqued my creative interest. When I found out that we could get a dwarf bunny, I was even more excited about the idea. The rabbit, named Snickers, was the best model I’ve ever shot, humans included. Once Snickers was on the set, it was all work, he just sat there as long as it took to get the shot. You could almost move him around like a piece of clay. Usually the flash unsettles animals when on set, but Snickers was not even phased by the strobe lights and all the attention of us humans.
